Challenges

One of the primary challenges was providing accurate suhoor and iftar timings across various regions and time zones. The goal was to provide users accurate suhoor and iftar timings for their location. Given the app’s global audience, inconsistencies or errors in timing could seriously damage the app’s reputation.

The module needs to cater to users speaking various languages, particularly when translating Ramadan-specific duas. Providing accurate and culturally appropriate translations was a key challenge.

Balancing a feature-rich module with a simple and intuitive user interface was another challenge. The app needed to offer extensive functionalities without overwhelming users or compromising usability.

The fasting tracker feature required handling multiple logging statuses, note-taking functionalities, and detailed user insights. Developing a system that could easily integrate these elements while maintaining clarity was a significant hurdle.

Solutions

We implemented localized calculation methods specific to regional parameters, ensuring precise timing data. Additionally, error-handling mechanisms and fallback options were incorporated to maintain data consistency even in case of disruptions. This robust approach guaranteed that users could rely on the app for accurate information regardless of their location or internet connectivity.

We utilized the Google Translate API to enable multilingual functionality for a smooth translation process. To further enhance accuracy, native speakers were involved during the testing phase to review and refine translations. This approach ensured linguistic precision and cultural relevance, enhancing accessibility for a diverse user base.

To achieve this balance, multiple rounds of user testing were conducted to gather feedback and refine the design. A clean, hierarchical layout was adopted, allowing for easy navigation while highlighting the module’s core features.

We built a robust database structure with iCloud sync to provide users with real-time updates. Color-coded indicators were introduced to differentiate between statuses like “fasted,” “missed,” and “unlogged,” enhancing usability. This thoughtful design enabled users to track their fasting habits conveniently while maintaining detailed records for reflection.

Users can also choose whether to recite the Arabic text, translation, or both when opting to hear any dua. The app provides dua translations in over 80 languages including regional dialects with the help of a smartly integrated Google Translate API.

Suhoor and Iftar Duas with Thematic Design

Divided into two side-scroll tabs, this section displays Suhoor and Iftar duas in Arabic with transliteration and translation. Features playback, sharing, and copying options, all presented on visually appealing vector art backgrounds for an engaging experience.
